Also, on November 1, both the major opposition parties – the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – assured the Government of their support in restoring normalcy and establishing State writ. Speaking in the National Assembly in Islamabad, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged PM Imran Khan to stick to his principled position – assuring him of his party’s backing in denying space to violent elements. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his party’s support to the PTI-led Government but urged the authorities not to use force against the protesters and find some peaceful solution of the problem instead.

Dialogue between Government and protesters in Lahore failed on November 1, with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leadership announcing a countrywide wheel-jam strike on November 2 (today) against the acquittal of Asia Bibi's acquittal in a blasphemy case, reports The Nation. There has been no headway in the talks between top Government negotiators and TLP chief Khadim Rizvi as the Government has refused to accept his key demand to place the name of Asia Bibi on the Exit Control List (ECL). The negotiating team comprising Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri and Minister for National Food Security Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan was constituted by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. However, as result of Government efforts some other key religious parties have softened their stance, saying they could go for supporting a review of the Supreme Court’s verdict in Asia Bibi case - instead of resorting to violence.

The Peshawar High Court on November 1 ruled that the recent terrorism convictions by the military courts in the province were wrongful and were based on ill-will and not evidence, reports Dawn. In its 173-page detailed judgment on the recently-accepted 75 petitions of military court convicts, a bench consisting of Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Lal Jan Khattak ruled that while exercising their power of judicial review in light of the judgments of the apex court, it accepted all petitions, set aside the impugned convictions and sentences, being based on malice in law and facts, and directed respondents, including federal and provincial governments, to free all convicts and internees if they’re not wanted in any other case(s). “The way all convicts have been proceeded against right from their arrest in different parts of the country in the custody of the agencies and landing them in the internment centres for months/ years, are not appreciated at all for the purpose of convictions,” it ruled.

His abductors released a picture of him along with a letter of the Khurasani faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)'s claiming responsibility for the kidnapping and the killing.Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Yusafzai said that Dawar was ruthlessly killed by the abductors inAfghanistan. He was in captivity for 18 days. The Afghan Foreign Ministry has confirmed the recovery of a body with the service card of Dawar. The ministry has informed the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul that the body was found by local people in Dur Baba District ofNangarhar province. The body, being transferred to Jalalabad by the Afghan authorities, was yet to be received by the Consul General of Pakistan inJalalabad. A day after firing a tirade at Pakistan during an interview to the Fox News, United States (US) President Donald Trump on November 19 repeated his rants saying that Washington stopped paying Islamabad because “they would take our money and do nothing for us”, reports Daily Times. “They [Pakistan] were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return That’s ENDING!” the US President wrote on his Twitter handle. “We no longer pay Pakistan the $Billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another,” he said in a series of tweets. In another tweet, Trump said the US had paid Pakistan billions of dollars and they never informed that Osama bin Laden was living there. He said the US should have captured Osama bin Laden long before the 2011 Abbottabad raid. “Of course, we should have captured Osama Bin Laden long before we did. I pointed him out in my book just BEFORE the attack on the World Trade Center. President Clinton famously missed his shot. We paid Pakistan Billions of Dollars & they never told us he was living there,” he added. A day earlier, Trump had defended his administration’s decision to pull hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Pakistan, saying the country “doesn’t do a damn thing for us.”

In an angry retort to US President Donald Trump’s rants against Pakistan, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on November 19 asked the US President to put his record straight, reminding him that Islamabad joined the US-led war against terrorism even though no Pakistani was involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, reports Daily Times. “Record needs to be put straight on Mr Trump’s tirade against Pakistan as no Pakistani was involved in 9/11 but Pakistan decided to participate in US War on Terror; Pakistan suffered 75,000 casualties in this war and over $123 billion loss was inflicted to its economy and US “aid” was a miniscule $20 billion,” the PM said in a series of tweets. “Instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures, the US should do a serious assessment of why, despite 140,000 NATO troops plus 250,000 Afghan troops and reportedly $1 trillion spending on war in Afghanistan, the Taliban today are stronger than before,” he continued.

It just asks Pakistan to recognise that itshould act to help stop the suffering of others," said the Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
