Also, on May 2, SFs arrested one KCP-Nongdrenkhomba cadre, identified as Ngangbam Sharat alias Somo. One mobile phone handset and 200 gms of explosive material were seized from his possession. On the disclosure of Sharat, another cadre of the same outfit, identified as Angom Aken alias German alias Chingkhei (24) was also pulled up from his residence. In further follow up action, a third cadre of the same outfit identified as Wahengbam John alias Thoi (24) was arrested.

Separately, following the allegations regarding the alleged killing of two cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF) inside the URF designated camp and reportedly they were later buried inside the camp located at the 9th Dogra Regiment D-Coy Loitang Khunou (Spinning Mill) in North Imphal, a search operation was conducted for the dead bodies by a team of police on May 6, reports The Sangai Express. However, during the search operation, the Police and forensic expert team didn’t recover anything. It may be recalled here that on March 19, 2014, a complaint was lodged at Sekmai police station by the URF regarding the missing of the two URF cadres. The two URF cadres who reportedly went missing on March 18 were identified as Irengbam Bode alias Washington and Pukhrambam Somorjit.

In a press statement the ‘information and publicity secretary’ of UKLF, JM Thadou stated that people raised their objection on their own because keeping two unfriendly armed groups in the same area would disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area. He also said that KNLF had surrendered to the State Government in 2013 and since they are not part of Suspension of Operations (SoO) group, KNLF has to be housed in Security Forces (SFs) camp, whereas SoO groups have proper guidelines and ground rules and not at par with the surrendered. He also added that if KNF is entitled to designated camps, the camps should be affiliated with Kuki National Organisation (KNO) Camp. Kanglaonline reports on May 30 that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed, demanding the immediate shifting of the United Revolutionary Front (URF) designated camp from Loitang Khonou in Imphal, has warned to launch several forms of agitation in case the Government failed to provide ‘positive response’ to the demand by 10am of May 31 (today). In this regard, the JAC president KhIbeton Devi said the JAC and family members of the two URF cadres whose bodies were found buried inside the storeroom of the designated camp on May 28 have already submitted a memorandum to the minister concerned on May 30.
