Troops of Red Shield Division conducted two successful operations resulting in the arrest three armed cadres of different militant groups on April 2. In the first operation, the troops carried out a search operation in Karong in Senapati District and arrested one Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) cadre, identified as Irom Goroba with one 9mm pistol and four live rounds. Based on information from the arrested PLA cadre, another operation was launched in Tera Urak which resulted in the arrest of Rangjam Sanjoy Singh of PLA and ‘Sergeant’ Thokchom Tenden Singh of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Tera Urak village in Bishnupur District along with one AK-47 rifle with 20 rounds and one 9mm pistol with five rounds.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has accepted the proposal of arranging postal ballots in the designated camps of the surrendered militants in Manipur, reports The Assam Tribune on April 4. “ECI has accepted the proposal of arranging postal ballots at 14 designated camps. So, we will be organising polling inside these camps”, said a State Election official. The State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) had made a proposal to the EC to enable the surrendered militants numbering around 2,094 living across 14 designated camps in Manipur to take part in the polls.
