High powered explosive materials, two big landmines, five thousand metres of electric wires, life saving drugs, khaki uniforms, woollens, liquids used for landmines explosion in big jar besides many other chemicals, Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) literatures and computerized guidelines for the "Red Army" of the Maoists detailing the war tactics in the event of an encounter with the Police, were seized by the police during a three-day joint operation against the Maoists involving Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Task Force (STF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and District Police, reports The Times of India on February 22. Displaying the seizure from the Naxal hideouts from the districts of Munger, Lakhisarai and Jamui before the media in the evening of February 21, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Munger range, Sharveshwar Prasad Shukla, accompanied by Munger Superintendent of Police (SP) Varun Kumar Sinha, said three hard-core Maoists, including Mithu Koda, resident of Kumartari village under Haveli Kharagpur police station; Monu Koda, resident of Barmasiya village under Haveli Kharagpur police station; and Banu Koda, resident of Machchi tola in Lakhisarai District were arrested during the search operations while some top Maoist leaders managed to escape taking advantage of the 1,400ft mountain top. The DIG said fifty landmines laid by the Maoists on the hill to blow up the approaching CRPF battalion were also destroyed by the police. At least half a dozen training camps of the Maoists were destroyed, the SP said, adding that a 6x6 sq ft banner with 'Laal Salam to Lenin, Stalin and Mao' printed on it, was also seized.

Two powerful can bombs were recovered from Goelkera Police Station area of West Singhbhum District on April 23, fuelling suspicion that Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) might have planted the explosives to cause damages to Security Force (SF) personnel during their six-day Jharkhand bandh (general Shut down) from April 25, reports The Telegraph. The bombs, weighing around 25kg each, were found buried beneath the ground at Pandwa village along a path frequently used by Police and Paramilitary Forces. Confirming the recovery, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police (SP) Michael Raj said: "Two can bombs, ammunition, materials used to prepare bombs and other items were recovered from Goelkera by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Both the bombs have been defused." "Beside the can bombs, we found six mortars, cartridges of 303 rifles and 9mm pistols, empty cartridges, medicines, accounts books, Naxalite [Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] literature and haversacks from under the earth," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vikash Kumar Sinha said, adding that Police and Paramilitary Forces had intensified long-range patrolling in Goelkera, which is close to Saranda, an erstwhile rebel hub.

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) posters were found at various places across Narayanpatna block in Koraput District on April 27, reports New Indian Express. In the posters, the Maoists demanded end to the anti-Maoist ‘Operation Green Hunt’, exploitation of tribals by landlords and withdrawal of Police deployment from different tribal pockets. Sources said the Maoist outfits working in Narayanpatna, Bandhugaon and bordering pockets of Odisha-Andhra Pradesh had started putting up the posters after the recent public meetings held by the Police in the area. Inspector General (IG) of Police (south-western range) Yashwant Jethwa said combing operation has been intensified in the block after the posters were found.

The couple identified as Mallesh alias Dhansingh and his wife Sukay Vetti were arrested during a combing operation based on intelligence inputs from the village. According to SP, Mallesh was a prominent Naxal leader of the region and was active as ‘Commander’ of Section ‘A’ of Maoist Military Platoon Number 1 of Military Company No. 6 of the CPI-Maoist. Mallesh’s wife Sukay was active member of the same group and assisted her husband in several Naxal incidents, the SP said, adding, the duo were carrying a reward of INR 800,000 each on their heads. A 2-kg tiffin bomb, four detonators, wire, Naxal banners were also recovered from their possession, he said.

"The letter is written by a local Naxal commander. Though it is addressed to one Comrade Mausi, we suspect it was meant for Narmada Aaka, who is a big Naxal leader and has been a guiding light for the Gadchiroli movement for Maoists. Maoist posters are usually handwritten and carry symbol of the organization along with the leader's signature. This is a printed one without any signature and symbol. A day before the commencement of Martyrs’ Week being observed by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), memorials were given finishing touches in a part of Visakha Agency on July 27, even as some posters and banners were put up in Chintoor and its adjoining mandals (administrative unit) in East Godavari Agency area, reports The Hindu. In spite of intensive combing operations by Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Visakha Agency, the Maoists erected four permanent memorials (stupams) between G.K. Veedhi and Koyyuru. The memorial near Kumkumpudi was reportedly very tall. All the four memorials were ready by July 27, apart from the final coat of paint.

Police arrested two suspected cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) from Purulia District of West Bengal in the night of July 28 for putting up posters in favour of the CPI-Maoist, reports indiablooms.com. Purulia Superintendent of Police (SP) Rupesh Kumar said, "We have arrested two suspected Maoists- Khori Hansda and Mutru Hansda from their house at Khenkridi village under Balarampur Police Station in Purulia for putting up posters with threats. Some posters and banners in favour of CPI-Maoist have been seized from them." "We had earlier arrested three suspected Maoists- Mahendra Hembram, Badyanath Soren and Ajit Hembram from Urma station area on July 27 and after interrogating them, we have made this arrest," he said. Security Forces (SFs) seized a huge cache of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist)-related materials after a half-an-hour gun-battle with them in Bijapur District, reports The Business Standard August 23. Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) K.L. Dhruv said that the skirmish took place in the forests of Bijapur Police Station area while a joint team of security personnel was out on a search operation. Acting on a tip-off about a large group of Maoists gathering in the region, a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and District Force was rushed towards Munga, Sawnar, Mankeli and Korma villages of the District. While cordoning off the forest area between Mankeli and Munga, a group of Maoists opened fire, prompting SFs to retaliate. "Bow and arrows, bags, Maoist banners, posters, pamphlets, literature, electric wire and torches besides items of daily use were seized in large quantities from the spot," he added.

Security Forces (SFs) unearthed a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp after a gun-battle with them in Kanker District on September 26, reports The Hindu. “The face-off between a joint team of security personnel and rebels took place in restive Chalechur hills under Korar Police Station limits on Saturday,” Kanker Superintendent of Police (SP), Jitendra Singh Meena, said. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Maoists in Korar region a joint squad of Border Security Force (BSF) and District Force was dispatched. While SFs were encircling the Chalechur hills to clamp down on Maoist, some armed Maoists spotted them and opened indiscriminate firing, following which troops retaliated, the SP added. The ensuring gun-fight lasted for around half-an-hour before the Maoists fled to the forests, he said. Later, during the search at the spot, a 2-kg tiffin bomb, ten bags, uniforms, radio, plastic tents, Maoist banners, literature, pamphlets, medicines and other Maoist-related materials were recovered, he added.

More than half a dozen Maoist posters and hand bills in Hindi and red and blue colours were found on the roadside trees between Kharanda Mor and Navi Bandh villages on Belhar-Banka main road under Belhar Police Station in the early hours of October 7.
