On January 24, three active cadres of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) were arrested in three separate incidents in Manipur, reports The Sangai Express. In the first operation Oinam Iboyaima Singh alias Boyai was arrested from his residence at Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai town. In the second operation, ‘Corporal’ Huidrom Priyokumar alias Jim was arrested from his residence at Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai. In the third operation, ‘Lance corporal’, Tangtangba Angnaikham Maring alias Taibanganba alias Athoi, was arrested from his residence at Langol Khunou village in Machi subdivision, Chandel District. The Police recovered a.32 pistol with magazine, three mobile handsets, two wallets, two Aadhaar cards, one driving license, one voter card, one vehicle registration card, one camouflage bag, INR 1,210, and a Yamaha FZ-S motorcycle during the operations.

Six Rohingyas were arrested by Tripura Police from Matinagar area under Kamalasagar Assembly of Sepahijala District in Tripura, reports India Today on January 25. The arrested Rohingyas were staying in an abandoned house in Matinagar area and the locals suspected and informed about them to Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police. On reaching the spot, the Police detained and took them to Amtali Police Station. During interrogation, it was revealed that the Rohingyas entered Tripura with the help of a broker who promised them to take them to Bangladesh. The broker was unable to cross the border as a result of tight security which led to the arrest of the Rohingyas.

On further interrogation, he revealed that he is an OGW of SOREPA and working under Moirangthem Naoba Meitei, who recently recruited two youths. In the second operation, Moirangthem Naoba Meitei alias Manaoton (27), a recruiter for SOREPA was arrested by Imphal East District Police Commandos from Top Moirangkampu forest gate area in Porompat Sub Division in Imphal East District of Manipur on January 31. Police arrested two persons after intercepting a car in 6th Mile area of Chumoukedima and recovered large quantities of ammunition concealed in rice bags. Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed that they had picked up the consignments from the house of a woman who is the wife of a deceased NSCN-IM functionary. The woman however confessed that the consignments were picked up from one 'Deputy Kilonser’ (cabinet minister) of the NSCN-IM. The ‘Deputy Kilonser’ admitted that he had bought arms from one Armed branch Inspector named Michael Yanthan of the Police department, who is the in-charge of the Arms and Ammunition branch of the Police Central store in Chumoukedima. Rohlupuia (55), and C Laldinsaga (43), in connection with the Mizoram explosives, arms and ammunition seizure case, reports NIA. The trio were arrested by the NIA after raids at four locations in Mizoram, including two in Champhai District and one each in Aizawl and Lawngtlai Districts. The case pertains to the seizure of two pick-up trucks, laden with explosives and firearms, from Kulikawn Police Station, Aizawl, Mizoram by the Assam Rifles Naka team of 2nd Bn AR on May 1, 2022 which were being transported from Mizoram to Myanmar. The consignment consisted of 223 boxes of 200 sticks each, gunpowder, weapons etc. Investigations revealed that Henry Siangnuna, in connivance with Rohlupuia had illegally purchased arms, by using Arms Dealer license of Rohlupuia, which were further being transported across the border to Myanmar. Investigations further revealed that Laldinsaga’s Explosive license was used for procuring explosives, from an Explosives Suppliers firm at Guwahati in Assam, for onward supply to Myanmar.

Police sources stated that Juman Bora was arrested from Jorhat District on July 29 and he was taken to Lakhipathar in Tinsukia District in search of explosives hidden in a forest. When he tried to flee, Police open fired on him. Based on information provided by Bora, Assam Police recovered a huge cache of explosives belonging to ULFA-I in Digboi in Tinsukia District. The seized explosives include: eight Plastic Explosive Kirke (PEKs), a detonator and six batteries. The explosives were found in a Village close to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Gopeneri Bottling plant, which is a potential target for insurgents. However, upon arrival, they were coerced into undergoing an extensive two-month training program. Ultimately, three of them managed to escape and return to Tripura.
