The recovery of the dead body was followed by the arrest of a militant, Dadu Borah alias Barun, from Kakojan Arandhara village under Teok police station. Barun during his interrogation confessed that he along with two of his accomplices came from Guwahati on January 1-morning on a hired vehicle to Kakojan Tea Estate, where they killed the driver and disposed off his dead body into the Kakojan river.

Police also arrested two of Rabia’s accomplices, Babul Haque Mazumdar and Sajjadur Rahaman Choudhury. They were suspected of being involved in at least three cases of abduction, including that of Shubham’s, who was released after 10 days of confinement. Rabia reportedly revealed the modus operandi of the new outfit led by Nasirudin, who is reported to be the chief of the outfit as well as Rabia’s paramour. According to police sources, the outfit was operating in the area from Chandranathpur under Katigorah block to Jaraitola in adjacent Borkhola. The outfit comprises about 20 cadres hailing from rural areas of the Cachar district.
