A Dhaka Court on January 12 rejected a bail plea of three Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leaders, including its Ameer (chief) Motiur Rahman Nizami, for dismissal of a case filed against them for hurting religious sentiment of Muslims, reports Daily Star. Two others leaders whose bail plea were rejected are Jamaat ‘secretary general’ Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojahid and its Nayeb-e-Ameer (deputy chief) Delwar Hossain Sayedee. Metropolitan Magistrate A.E.M. Ismail Hossain passed the order after their lawyer submitted a petition saying that the complainant of the case has been absent from the Court on three consecutive dates.

Chief of Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B) Mufti Abdul Hannan was produced in the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) on February 7 amid tight security in the case for bomb attack on Khulna Ahmadiyya mosque in 1999, reports Daily Star. Moulana Obaidul Huq Abdullah, younger brother of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) chief Sheikh Abdur Rahman was also brought to the same Court. Seven people were killed and 34 others injured in a bomb attack on an Ahmadiyya mosque in Nirala residential area under Khulna Sadar Police station on October 8 in 1999.

A Bangladesh Rifles (BDR ) Special Court read out charges against 275 out of 735 accused of the then Sadar Rifle Battalion of 2009 on March 6, the fourth day of proceedings, at Darbar Hall of Pilkhana in Dhaka according to Daily Star. Among the 735 accused, Criminal Investigations Department filed charge-sheet against 85. A total of 141 witnesses are supposed to give depositions against the accused. 74 persons, including the then BDR Director General (DG) and 56 other Army officers, were massacred at Pilkhana in a mutiny in 2009.

Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Shamimur Rahman brought charges against 153 troopers for their involvement in the mutiny at the sector headquarters on February 26 in 2009. According to Daily Star, a Special Court at Darbar Hall Pilkhana of Dhaka on the fifth day of the trial, framed charges against 735 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), previously known as Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), for their involvement in the mutiny in 2009, Daily Star reported on March 7. Of the accused, four confessed to their involvement in the mutiny at the BGB Headquarters at Pilkhana. The allegations against the accused include leaving Darbar Hall defying the orders of the then Director General, failing to control subordinates, refraining from providing information about the mutiny to the higher authority, not taking any actions to prevent mutiny, taking firearms and ammunition from the armory and participating actively in the mutiny.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court in Dhaka on March 7 warned Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for delaying probe of the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on Awami League rally case and asked it to submit its report by March 23 2011 reports Daily Star. During the hearing, advocate Syed Rezaur Rahman, Chief Counsel of the grenade attack cases, told the Court that the Investigating Officer (IO) had unearthed vital clues about how the grenades were obtained and used on August 21 rally at Bangabandhu Avenue. The Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court warned the IO for delaying probe and directed him to submit report by April 4 2011.

The Court also rejected the bail petition of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid after his lawyer moved the prayer saying his name was included in the charge sheets to harass him. 18 of the accused, including former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar and Mojahid, were produced before the court. Besides, former BNP Deputy Minister Abdus Salam Pintu, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B) leader Mufti Abdul Hannan and 12 others of the 22 accused in the previous charge sheet were also produced.
