On May 4, a soldier was killed and four others were injured when militants ambushed a convoy of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Bakrabal Mohalla near Sanai in Surankote Tehsil in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Police said, “In the process, five IAF personnel received bullet injuries and were evacuated to the nearest military hospital for immediate medical attention. One Air Warrior succumbed to his injuries later," and it was believed that three terrorists were involved in it.
On May 3, an encounter broke out between the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) while conducting a search operation in the Raigudam area in the Sukma District of Bastar division of Chattisgarh, reports ETV Bharat. On May 3, the Maharashtra Police arrested a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘jan militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) member, identified as Shankar Vanga Kudyam (34), who is accused of serious crimes like murder and carrying a reward of INR 150,000 for his capture, in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra, reports Newsroom Odisha. Kudyam was wanted in connection with the cases lodged against him after a fierce gun battle in the Modumadgu Forests of the Revanpalli region in the Gadchiroli district on March 19, said Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Neelotpal. Investigations further revealed that Kudyam was involved in the murder cases of three civilians in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and four major Police encounters, including three in Chhattisgarh and one in Maharashtra.
On May 4, six terrorists were killed and their hideouts were busted during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out by Security Forces (SFs) in the North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, reports Dawn. A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) read that the security forces carried out the operation following the reported presence of terrorists in the area. During an intense exchange of fire with security forces, six terrorists were killed, it added. According to the ISPR, those killed during the operation had remained actively involved in targeted killings of civilians in the area and numerous militant activities against SFs.
On May 4, four armed terrorists attacked Police on Sibbi Road in Quetta District in the Balochistan Province and were killed in retaliatory fire by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), reports The Khorasan Diary. After the encounter, a huge cache of arms was recovered from the spot.
