SFs arrested two People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) militants identified as Mayanglambam Victoria alias Jambapati Devi and Baspatimayum Lakhikumar Sharma alias Heithoiba alias Shajikngakpa Sharma were arrested from general area of Sekmaijin in Thoubal District, reports The Sangai Express. One Chinese hand grenade, one out-pass slip issued by KK Nganba of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP- Nganba). and other incriminating articles were seized from the possession of Mayanglambam ongbi Victoria Devi. One out pass slip issued by KK Nganba of KCP was also seized from the possession of Baspatimayum Lakhikumar Sharma. Investigation revealed that they are active cadres of KCP- KK Nganba which is under Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Government. However, they were working for the PREPAK also, and they came to Sekmaijin for recruiting new cadres for PREPAK.

Unidentified armed militants abducted two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates, contesting the coming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, reports The Assam Tribune on May 6. One of the abducted candidates has been identified as Laminthang Kipgen from Tuzang Vichong of Sadar Hills ADC. He was abducted on May 3, while another BJP candidate of Churachandpur ADC was abducted from Geljang area in Senapati District. Security Forces (SFs) arrested two Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), identified as Gomtalakbou and ‘Leutinent’ Lot, along the Raianglong- Khunphun track in Tamenglong District on May 31, reports The Sangai Express. Based on specific inputs of presence of underground cadres in Khunphun village involved in coercing and pressurizing locals with respect to the ADC elections, troops of Red Shield Division carried out patrolling and apprehended the two NSCN-IM cadres, said the PRO (Defence) statement. The individuals revealed that they were assigned to cause disturbance during ADC elections.
