On August 17, Manipur Police arrested 12 militants from the official residences of three Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and a former legislator of the ruling Congress Party in the Babupara VIP Colony of capital Imphal, reports Telegraph. Eight militants of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested from the residence of W. Brajabidhu Singh, an MLA representing Lamsang constituency in Imphal West district. A dismantled M-16 rifle, parts of a 9 mm pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition were recovered in the septic tank behind the residence. The police also found five extortion notices meant for Imphal-based businessmen. Two militants - one from the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and another from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) - were arrested from the house of Meghachandra Singh, a MLA representing the Wangkhem constituency of Thoubal district. These two militants had recently been granted bail by a court. Another Army source said that troops cleared and secured the area till L Dongjoi Moljol and Phaisangjang along the Khengjoi ridge line, areas along the Sehlon ridge line, and the area upto Phoilen. The SF personnel recovered and later destroyed 57 improvised explosive devices (IED) which were laid by the UNLF militants. Two soldiers, Bharat Patel and Mohammed Iqbal, were wounded while neutralising the IEDs. However, the UNLF claims to have killed at least seven SF personnel and wounded several others.

An attempt by militant groups to launch a attack upon security forces was foiled when 17 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and later defused in the Thoubal district on December 12-morning, reports Imphal Free Press. While 14 IEDs were recovered from a place along the Imphal-Ukhrul road between Mahadeva and Litan, three of them were recovered from Wangjing along the Imphal-Moreh section of the National Highway-39.

Three People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) cadres, including one who was involved in the October 1 bomb blasts at Paona Bazaar and Thangal Bazaar, were arrested in two separate search operations at Takyel Kolom Leikai and Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak in the Imphal West district on December 17- morning. They were identified as Imocha Sharma alias Khagemba, Konthoujam Dhiren alias Bobu and Laishram Ibomcha Singh. One 9-mm pistol along with one magazine with seven live rounds was recovered from Imocha’s possession. Imocha confessed that he along with another one PREPAK cadre, Krishna, exploded a hand grenade in Thangal Bazaar on October 1 injuring three civilians. Later, Krishna alias Sunil alias Momom was killed by police at Kongba Uchekon in the Imphal East district on November 11. Imocha further claimed that the November 16 bombing at Sarajeevan Videocon House in Paona Bazaar was carried out under instructions from one Wangba of the PREPAK after the bomb was handed over to one Sanatomba, a PREPAK cadre. Sanatomba was also killed by the Imphal West district police commandos at RIMS colony in December.

Assam Rifles and Army personnel neutralised a hideout of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in the Chandel district on December 21, reports Assam Tribune. One 9-mm pistol, one SLR, five magazines of AK series rifles, 3 radio sets, 100 pairs of combat dress, 200 numbers of combat belts, 10 syntax tanks, 30 jericans, 40 blankets, three generators, two invertors, three batteries, 50 liters of petrol oil, 50 liters kerosene oil, large quantity of explosive for making IEDs and large quantity of rations were recovered from the hideout. Colonel Lalit Mohan Pant, PRO of the Assam Rifles, said "Radio communication between the underground indicate several fatal casualties to their cadres and a scores of them injured. Some cadres are missing believed to have deserted their group". He added that one ‘lieutenant colonel’ Pathao instructed the cadres to vacate their camp and move towards Myanmar. So far a total of 170 IEDs have been recovered and subsequently destroyed, the officer said.

Eight kilograms of explosives, one RPG round, eight magazines, nine fired lethod cases, 15 blankets, four 9 volt batteries, one 12 volt car batteries, eight jerricans, 13 plates, 12 bowls, one entrenching tool, one duty register, and a medicine drum were recovered.
