A passenger bus, flagged off a month ago to connect Bastar’s Dantewada directly with Narayanpur, bypassing Jagdalpur and Kondagaon, was set ablaze by the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), in the Malewahi area in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on April 1, reports The Times of India. Around two dozen Maoists, some of them armed, forced the passengers to alight and set the bus on fire, apparently displaying their frustration, said Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Tiwari. The Maoists, however, did not harm the passengers, said the SP, adding it was clearly an act committed out of frustration and anger against the ongoing development works in Bastar.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Anjaneya Vaishnav said a team of central forces, District Reserve Police, and Chhattisgarh Arms Force (CAF) rushed to Todka as the incident took place. While there was firing from both sides, however, no casualties are reported from both sides.

A Joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) involved in anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation destroyed a Naxalite memorial in Dhanora area under Malsakatta Police Station limits in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on April 6, reports jandhara24.com. According to the information received, a wooden monument was built by the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Malsakatta village on April 6 morning, which has been demolished by the Security Forces (SFs). Along with this, during the search patrol in the area near Bhatbeda village, the SFs recovered Naxal materials like electric wires, firecrackers, etc. kept with the intention of harming the SFs and the general public.
