On December 1, Police arrested four cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) involved in the incident of arson of 14 vehicles engaged in road construction work on November 26 in Bhansi Police Station limits in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh, reports abplive.com. Out of the four Maoists arrested, a reward of INR 100,000 each was announced for two Maoists. A joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 230 battalion personnel of Dantewada District caught these four Maoists while searching in the forests and hills of Hurrepal and Kondapal, Maoist-affected areas of the district. On interrogating the arrested Maoists, all four confessed to being involved in the incident of the arson of vehicles. During interrogation, the Maoists told the Police that more than 50 Maoists were involved in the arson incident, out of which the names of some Maoists have also been revealed. After this, the Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the named Maoists and intensified the search operation.

One Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre whose identity is yet to be divulged surrendered before the Police in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on December 1, reports ibc24.in. The surrendered Maoist, an active member of the Bhairamgarh Area Committee, has been involved in many major Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE]-related incidents in Narayanpur. The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) killed a deputy Sarpanch (head of the Panchayat, village level local self-Government institution) in Kandadi village under Chhotebethiya Police Station limits in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on December 1, reports The Times of India. Accused of working for the Police, Ramsu Kachlam was ‘sentenced to death’ at a kangaroo court (people's court held by the Maoist rebels), held deep in a forest, after being dragged away from his home on the night of November 29 and killed in cold blood. The Maoists have also taken responsibility for the killing by issuing a pamphlet. The killing incident took place two days before Maoists were to observe 'PLGA Week' celebrations of CPI-Maoist 'Martyrs', which were held between December 2 and 8.

An exchange of fire between CPI-Maoist and the Security Forces (SFs) took place in Bade Tungali Forest area under Jangla Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on December 2, reports etvbharat.com. Acting on information about Maoist leaders 'area committee member’ (ACM) Shankar and Rajesh of Bhairamgarh Area Committee along with 20 to 25 armed Maoists were hiding in the forests in Jangla Police Station area, the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighter Force, and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) left for the spot, and an encounter broke out between SFs and the Maoists in the Bade Tungali Forest. Following the attack, the Maoists left the camp and escaped. Later on, during the search, the joint forces demolished the Maoist camp and recovered bows and arrows, polythene for tents, medicines, uniforms, pouches, firecrackers, and items of daily use from the site.

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) exploded near a bridge on Indravati river under Barsoor Police Station limits in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on December 2, reports The New Indian Express. Acting on a tip-off about the movement of Maoists on the Barsoor-Palli route as part of their ‘People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Week’ starting from December 2 to 8, a team of CRPF's 195th battalion was dispatched there, and on spotting a Maoist banner and an IED concealed in it near Saatdhaar Bridge, the security personnel started defusing it, which exploded in the process and caused minor injuries to two personnel, a CRPF official said.

The cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) killed a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, identified as Kamal Majhi, by slitting his throat in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on December 9, reports Deccan Chronicle. Majhi was abducted by a group of four-five Maoists when he was returning home after visiting the local temple in his village of Mundatikra under the Chhote Dangar area in the morning and taken to the nearby forest area, where the Maoists hacked him to death and then threw his body on the outskirts of the village, Police said. Reportedly, Manjhi was the eighth BJP leader to have been killed by Maoists in the state in the past year.

Twenty cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), including five women cadres, surrendered in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on December 9, reports The Week. They turned themselves in before senior Police officials, citing disappointment with “inhuman” and “hollow” Maoist ideology, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Chavan said. One of the surrendered Maoists, Uika Lakhma, operated as ‘militia deputy commander’, while the others were active as members of the militia and Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan (DAKMS), Krantikari Mahila Adivasi Sangthan (KAMS), and Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), all frontal wings of Maoists, the SP said, adding that they were allegedly involved in executing Maoist activities, including putting up posters, spreading the banned outfit’s ideology, and doing recce, in Jagargunda Police Station area of the district.

A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) went off in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on December 29, reports The Print. The incident occurred between Hiroli and Kavadgaon villages when personnel belonging to the DRG and Bastar Fighters and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were on patrol, a Police official said. “While advancing through a dirt track, DRG Head Constable Arvind Ekka inadvertently stepped over the pressure IED, triggering a blast that caused injuries to his leg. He was shifted to Pusnar Unit Hospital, from where he was referred to Bijapur District Hospital. He is being taken to Raipur by helicopter for further treatment,” the official said. A security personnel who suffered injuries in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh succumbed after 20 days of treatment at a private hospital in Raipur District on January 17, reports The Times of India. Earlier reported by South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) that the security personnel from District Reserve Guards (DRG), head constable, Arvind Ekka, sustained severe leg injuries in a pressure IED blast in Kavadgaon village in the Gangalur region of Bijapur District on December 29, 2023. While he underwent surgeries and regular monitoring by doctors, Ekka succumbed to his injuries.
