A suspected militant, Sanasam Rishikanta, was shot at and wounded by unidentified gunmen at Hundung Lamkhai in the Ukhrul District. Police suspect the wounded militant belongs to a recent breakaway group of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). The report added that in July 2009 around 60 armed KYKL militants after killing nine of its own cadres and snatching several arms broke away from the KYKL somewhere along the India-Myanmar border area and later formed a faction called the Military Defence Force.

Bobby confessed that he joined the PLA in 2000 and after undergoing training at Sajik Tampak, has been working in the auxiliary group of the outfit. Subsequently, two PLA sympathizers, Salam Dewan (35) and his wife Salam Ongbi Memocha Devi, were also arrested by the combined force from Phoubakchao Litan Makhong on the same day. 680 rounds of ammunition of 7.62 weapon, 340 ammunition of AK, 25 lethode bombs, one Chinese hand grenade, one I-Com hand hold set with charger, two pipe bombs, six circuit wire bundles, five packets of nitrate salt weighing 100 grams, one cadmium battery, nine electronic detonators, one 27-Detonator and two kilograms of explosive materials which were kept concealed around the house were recovered. The ‘Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN)’, political wing of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), declared that any realization of ‘taxes, donation’ etc. in the name of Zeliangrong Region of the GPRN should be carried out with the knowledge of the ‘Central Administrative Officer (CAO)’ of the region so as to minimise the chance of illegal monetary collection. The ‘CAO’ of the Zeliangrong Region, Salemyang Tatar, in a press statement said that any individual, organization or Government Department entertaining monetary demands without the knowledge of the ‘CAO’ should be doing so at their own risk.
