According to the Hyderabad police commissioner, R P Singh, by arresting these terrorists, a major plan to attack Americans visiting the State and incite communal tension through a series of explosions during the forthcoming Ganesha festival in the city was averted. The group also planned to target Jews and had reconnoitered the houses of some Jewish families in the Guntur district, the commissioner added.
