The suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative arrested by the Gulbarga police in the State of Karnataka had planned to target dams and power grid and installations in Andhra Pradesh using bombs and grenades, police investigation revealed, according to PTI. Shamim Ahmed, who was arrested on March 30, was carrying maps of these facilities, according to Gulbarga Superintendent of Police, K. Ramachandra Rao. Rao said interrogation revealed that Ahmed underwent a 13-month training at Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir in respect of using AK-47 rifle, grenades and time bombs, rocket-firing, and "jihadi" activities targeting India.

District Superintendent of Police V.V. Srinivasa Rao on April 24 described as a human rights violation the recruitment of children by the Maoists to work as couriers. Rao said that the 'Andhra Pradesh-Orissa Border special zonal committee' documents seized by them recently had revealed that the Maoists were giving priority to use the tribal children for acting as couriers. The arrested minor girl who was recruited as a member of Bala Sangham during her early childhood became a dalam (squad) member two years ago. Mumbai Police on August 13 claimed to have neutralized a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) module in the city by arresting two suspected members of the outfit, according to Hindustan Times. The two were identified as Shabbir Ahmed Mushiullah, a resident of Malegaon in Nasik, and Nafiz Ahmed Jamir Ahmed Ansari, a resident of Govandi in north-east Mumbai. Both are also members of the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and had traveled to Dubai in May 2003. From there they had moved to Pakistan for arms training. On August 18, two cadres of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were arrested from the Wardha district on suspicion of their alleged involvement in terrorist activities, according to Hindustan Times. Police sources said that while Waqar Baig Yusuf Baig was arrested from Mahadeopura in Wardha city, Jitaullah Rehman Mehmood Khan was arrested from Kazipur in the textile township of Hinganghat. The joint Special Operation Group of the State Police and Central Reserve Police Force led by Malkangiri Superintendent of Police, Himansu Lal, killed three Communist Party of India- Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres and arrested two others following a combing operation at Tandimetal village area under Motu Police Station in the southern district of Malkangiri on December 22, reports Pioneer. Malkangiri Intelligence Bureau sources informed the security forces (SFs) that ultras were holding meeting with the villagers at Tandimetal. After a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the ultras, three Maoists were killed and two were arrested. SFs also recovered a huge quantity of explosives and arms.
