On June 30, following a meeting between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) Chair Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, the CPN-UML, the second largest party, decided to sever its political ties with Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) government and form an alliance with the Nepali Congress, the largest party, reports The Kathmandu Post.As per the understanding between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, Oli will lead a new 'national consensus' government for a year and a half, with Deuba assuming for the remaining term.
