On July 1, two judicial tribunals, presided over by Justice Sachin Datta of the Delhi High Court, upheld the Indian government's decision to designate two Jammu and Kashmir-based pro-Pakistan groups, including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat led (TeH) by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) as banned organisations, reports Daily Excelsior. Earlier, the confirmation of the ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) was issued on June 22, 2024. Separately, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (UMHA) announced the outlawing of Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) on December 27, 2023, with the tribunal convened on January 15, 2024, also confirming the ban on June 22, 2024.
