On December 4, at least 13 suspected cadres belonging to People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were killed in an ambush laid by suspected Kuki militants near Leithao village near Saibol in Tengnoupal District of Manipur, reports Tribune India. The bodies of the suspected militants were recovered by Manipur Police and Assam Riflesafter intelligence inputs about a firefight in the area.Officials said that no arms or ammunition was found near the bodies. Sources suspected the deceased to be new recruits and killed in an ambush while on their way to a training camp in Myanmar.
On December 4, Security Forces (SFs)conducted a cordon and search operation on a hill range at Nongshum and Khamenlok in Senapati District of Manipur and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, reports The Sangai Express.The arms and ammunition recovered include three Sub-Machine Gun (SMG) Carbines with three empty magazines, fifteen Highly Explosive (HE) 36 hand grenades without detonator, sixwhite phosphorus (WP) smoke grenades without detonator, eighteen 2" Mortar HE bombs and six 75 MK-2 detonators.
