All of them are linkmen of the KPLT and were carrying out subversive activities on behalf of the outfit. A country-made single barrel muzzle loading (SBML) gun and some gunpowder were also found on them. According to Police, the arrested persons were allegedly involved in burning down houses of Rengma Naga villagers at several places in the subdivision on December 27, 28, and 29.

Senior Superintendent of Police (City) AP Tiwari said that initially two cadres of the outfit were arrested from two hotels in Guwahati in the morning. Later, another three cadres were arrested, he said. Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police, Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta on January 12 announced the arrest of a Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) “corporal” Sarhon Teron from Karbi Anglong on January 9, reports The Telegraph. Mahanta further stated that the arrested militant led the Police to recreate the crime scene of the Khowanigaon attack which led to the Karbi-Rengma Naga violence. According to sources, some minority community youths attacked the motorcycle rally with lethal weapons and damaged a number of vehicles, besides injuring some Youth BPF members. Also, the Central Government is concerned about the law and order situation in Assam, particularly in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) areas and the Central forces deployed in the State will not be withdrawn in the near future, reports The Assam Tribune. Talking to The Assam Tribune, Joint Secretary (North East) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Sambhu Singh said that the situation in the BTAD area is a matter of concern and with the elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) due in April 2015, the possibility of the situation deteriorating further cannot be ruled out. Singh said that the I.K Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-IKS) is still active in the BTAD area despite suffering setbacks in the counter-insurgency operations. He said that the Centre has asked the State Government to intensify operations against the militants. On the issue of talks with the militant groups, Singh said that the process has been resumed and efforts are on to expedite the process of talks. He said that the Centre wants the talks to complete as soon as possible. The MHA is contemplating fixing time frame for completion of the process of talks with different militant groups. However, he admitted that in cases where major policy changes might be required, the talks might continue for some time.

Colonel SB Mishra of the 12 Assam Regiment who led the operation informed that the Security Forces were aware of the formation of a new group since four to five months back but could not confirm it. Recently, a member of the group made an extortion call to Gupta Tea Estate near Diyun in Chnaglang District and after tracing the call the culprit was arrested. This led to further arrests and the exposure of the group. On August 10 evening, all the arrested have been handed over to Lohit Police, he added.

Miscreants torched about 200 houses following which over ten thousand people fled their houses to take shelter in ten relief camps in Uriamghat area of the District. The number of inmates in relief camps swelled to over ten thousand with about 400 more people fleeing their villages and taking shelter in the camps on August 14.No fresh incidents of violence have been reported after August 12. Kokrajhar Police stated that around 26 Nepali boys received training at a camp in Myanmar through the Isak-Muivah faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and added that after returning they started working for the IK Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-IKS). Further, the Police stated that NDFB-IKS was outsourcing activities like kidnapping and extortion to these individuals and that they may have a hand in the abduction of four Bhutanese nationals on August 8. According to a senior Police officer, both the accused have confessed that HSULF was raised in 2013 and became operational in the month of June. On November 14, National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with Assam Police arrested one person, Subruddin Ali from Boroliapar village of Nalbari District in connection with October 2, 2014 Bardhaman blast, report New Indian Express. Suburuddin Ali, a close relative of Sahanur Alam who is one of the main accused in the blast incident was arrested during a search operation in his house. Sixty books related to jihadi activities, Quran and a large quantity of medicines were dug out from two places in the house and seized along with Suburuddin's tempo and motorcycle, the Police said. The search was conducted after a confessional statement given by Sahanur's wife Sujana Begum, who was earlier arrested on November 7 and in connection with case number NIA/RC 03/14 relating to Jihadi activities. Police said Suburuddin has confessed that Sahanur, who is on the run, and Sujana had stayed in the house for 10 days some time ago. NIA has announced INR 5,00,000 reward to anyone who gave information leading to Sahanur's arrest. So far, the agency sleuths have searched Sahanur's house thrice at Chatala village in Barpeta District of Assam and quizzed his father and brother.

Times of India further adds that a Chinese-made 9mm pistol with ammunition and four electric detonators were seized from him. Assam Policemen and the Army troopers on November 17 arrested a Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) militant, identified as Anyal Khan from Bahiya village in Barpeta District, reports The Times of India. A factory-made 9 mm revolver and four rounds of ammunition have been recovered from him. The arrest comes at a time a manhunt is on for Burdwan blast (West Bengal) key accused Sahanur Alom. An unnamed Police officer said, “We have not found any link between Khan and Alom so far, though both hail from Barpeta. The arrest, however, proves that Islamic fundamentalist groups have recruited many from the District".
