Two cadres of the Janajuddha faction of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) were killed in an encounter with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel inside a primary school compound under Ataikula police station in the Pabna district on January 15, reports Daily Star. The killed extremists were identified as Anwar Hossain from Alokchar village and Chand Ali from Nandanpur village. Anwar reportedly was an assistant regional leader of the PBCP-Janajuddha. Two firearms, a number of bullets and a sharp weapon were recovered from the encounter site.

RAB personnel raided the Berbenni village of Harinakunda where the PBCP cadres were holding a secret meeting and in the ensuing encounter Harun was killed. The slain extremist was identified as Dulal alias Kalam of Sadupur village. According to RAB sources, he was a PBCP ‘operations commander’ of the Naogaon zone wanted in six murder cases filed with the Atrai and Raninagar police stations.
