Nepalese Foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, currently visiting the US, is expected to discuss the matter with the US officials in this regard. Earlier, the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, had visited Nepal in January and had suggested a crackdown on the Maoist insurgents. However, he did not commit any assistance that the US could provide. Nepal has reportedly asked for advanced bullet-proof helicopters equipped with night vision equipment. Acharya is also expected to make similar requests to Britain and Russia.
