Security Forces (SFs) seized eight Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) from a forest in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on November 1, reports NDTV. Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashutosh Shekhar directed SFs to launch a search operation in the forest foothill in Rengdra after receiving information that Maoists have planted IEDs in the area to target SF personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operation. In course of search operation, the SF personnel recovered the eight IEDs planted in the Rengdra forest foothill, about 140 kilometers from Ranchi. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the IEDs, each weighing 1.5 kilograms to 2 kilograms, SP, Shekhar added.

Two cadres of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were arrested following a quick action taken by Police in Gumla District of Jharkhand on November 1, reports prabhatkhabar.com. The Naxalite [Left Wing extremism, LWE] organization PLFI had demanded a ‘levy’ (extortion money) of INR five million from well-known surgeon Dr Saurabh Prasad of Gumla city, and after the information of Dr. Saurabh, the Police of Gumla Police Station took the action and arrested Shravan Gop, resident of Tarri Fasia and Shiva Cheek Baraik, resident of Fasia, and sent them to jail.

Posters claimed to be written by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) have surfaced at Bandih Mor and Kashmar village in Oria Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution) under Kamalpur Police Station in East Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on November 3, reports The Avenue Mail. In the poster written in red ink, the Maoists have written in Bengali language that the villagers should not think that the Maoists are over. The Khunti and Chaibasa Police administration took this action on the basis of secret information. At least three Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bombs placed in 10 kilograms can were destroyed which were kept in the Maoist bunker at a hill near Totakora village. Apart from this, the Security Forces (SFs) recovered IED, 5 meters of Cordex wire, 200 grams of ammonium nitrate, 67 pieces 215 pieces iron rod, 2 bundle iron rod, 61 pieces 21 pieces, 3 bundles, Vaseline series, carbon paper 1 piece, 3 packets. 1 box, one tape, one candle, three needles, three surgical globe, plastic seat, steel tiffin cover from the bunker.

The arrested Binod Munda alias Chandan was the ‘platoon commander’ of the regional committee of the organization, and the woman extremist Sumitra Devi alias Suvidha was the ‘supremo’ of women wing of the organization. Both the arrested extremists were associated with the CPI-Maoist for the last 15 years, and the Police were searching them for the last 10 years. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on November 11, filed a charge sheet against 11 persons, including two arrested and nine absconding persons, in a case pertaining to recovery of live ammunition from a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp at Rud village in the hilly and forested area in Latehar District of Jharkhand on September 1, 2017, reports Greater Kashmir. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established three new forward bases in the remote Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] violence affected areas of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand as part of its strategy to strike deep into the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) strongholds, reports Outlook India on November 22. While one each Forward Operating Base (FOB) has been established in Chhattisgarh's Sukma and Bijapur districts, the third has been created in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. These FOBs will serve as a base for the security forces to launch coordinated operations in the surrounding areas and will also help in cutting off the Maoist supply lines, a CRPF spokesperson said. The bases in Chhattisgarh are located in Dubbakonta under Chintagupha Police Station jurisdiction in Sukma and Nambi that lies within the Usoor Police Station limits in Bijapur. "Both the locations used to be strongholds of Maoists. The establishment of these new camps in the most interior areas will give an edge to the security forces as these will serve as a launch pad for offensive operations against Maoists close to their hideouts," the spokesperson said.

On November 30, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre in connection with an attack on former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly Gurucharan Nayak, resulting in the killing of his two police bodyguards and injuries to another on January 4, 2022, NDTV reports. Shaka alias Tivari Bankira, a resident of West Singhbhum District, was arrested from his hideout in Jharkhand. "Investigations revealed that Shaka was an armed cadre of CPI (Maoist) [CPI-Maoist] and he conspired with other co-accused and handed over 8,000 to accused Pradhan Korah to buy logistics items for the Maoists," Police said. He collected these items from the house of another accused Pradhan Korah and handed them over to CPI-Maoist ‘Special Area Committee’ member Sushant alias Anmol alias Lalchand Hembram at Lowabeda forest. "He also conducted recce of the place of incident and kept watch on the movement of Police and security personnel until the attack was executed," the official further said, adding further investigation in the case is in progress. The former MLA accompanied by his bodyguards was attacked by an armed group of Maoists under Goilkera police station in West Singhbhum on January 4, but escaped unhurt. However, the attack left two of his bodyguards dead and another injured while the Maoists fled the scene along with the weapons of the deceased.
