Two Chhattisgarh-based Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, identified as Hemula Rama alias Laxman (27), an ‘area committee member’ (ACM) of Jegurgonda, and Madakam Paiki alias Laxmi, member of the Jegurgonda ‘10th platoon’, surrendered before Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Dutt, in Kothagudem town in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on July 8, reports The Hindu. Rama, who had joined the Maoist ranks in 2016, is presently working as a guard to the CPI-Maoist ‘divisional committee member’ (DVCM) Jagadeesh, while Laxmi has been actively involved in Maoist activities in Jegurgonda. “Both of them feared for their lives due to harassment by Maoist party leaders, who are threatening the Maoist cadres for willing to come out and live better life,” SP, Sunil Dutt said.
