The prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) on August 19 claimed that Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam, in association with the Pakistan Army, had killed innocent villagers at Dakhiganj crematorium at Mahiganj town of Rangpur District during the Liberation War in 1971, reports The Independent. Referring to the evidence of the prosecution witnesses, including the deposition of the members of the martyred families, prosecutor Tapos Kanti Baul in his opening arguments said the Pakistani occupational army aided by ATM Azharul committed crimes against humanity in Rangpur District killing 10 innocent people in 1971.
