Two Pakistan Rangers Sindh personnel were killed during a raid to arrest militants trained in Syria and Afghanistan and working for foreign intelligence agencies were arrested from Mawaach Goth area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports The News. Briefing media on the raid, Rangers spokesperson Colonel Qaisar said that they raided a militant hideout in Mawaach Goth area on a tipoff that militants of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) have entered in the metropolis for subversive activities. ‘Eight KG explosives, one suicide vest, four ball bearing bombs and four SMGs were seized from the suspects,’ Colonel Qaiser explained, further adding that ‘two Rangers personnel were martyred during the raid.’ The LEAs also recovered 360-degree images of a site were from their possession, he said. Tahir Zaman aka Boxer Mota was trained in Afghanistan. IED expert Nawaz joined the AQIS group in 2012, he also provided medical services to another terrorist, Javed Swati. The third suspect, Bilal, was a close associate of main suspect Tahir who was involved in the Safoora attack.

Police on April 18 claimed to have arrested a target killer belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) from Gulberg Town in Karachi, reports Daily Times. According to Gulberg Superintendent of Police (SP) Bashir Brohi, Jauharabad police arrested Umar Farooque alias Rashid Charya alias Rashid Kalla. Charya has been involved in at least 12 cases of target killing and terrorism. A pistol with five bullets has been recovered from him. "He joined Unit 131 of MQM in 1995. During the course of interrogation he has revealed multiple terrorist activities in Karachi," the SP said. He said further Charya attacked Baloch Goth in 1995-96 in which five people were killed, including his own accomplice Jameel.

According to sources, the three suspects, who reside in Dubai, were operating a drug den in the Ghazi Khan vicinity with the help of accomplices Arif Tiki, Obaid Langra, and Fahad Baloch.In a separate raid, an important member of the Lyari gang war, Amin Baloch, was arrested during a raid at Lyari General Hospital. According to the police, Amin was a vital accomplice of Lyari gang war's Zahid Ladla and the younger brother of gang war suspect Wasim Qasargandi. According to Rangers spokesperson, Saeedul Hassan alias China and Syed Omar Aijaz alias Omar alias Maaz alias Musab, Saleem alias Chosni, Furqan alias Shooter, Abu Bakar, Ibrahim alias Hyderi, Sikandar and Asif Pathan were arrested in the operation. Hanif is suspected of involvement in nine acts of terrorism, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Poonch Mir Abid said. These acts included a suicide attack on an Army vehicle near Dothan village in January 2010, in which some Army soldiers were injured. He is also suspected of being involved in the planting of a bomb outside a hotel in Rawalakot in September 2010 which killed the bomber was killed and injured a citizen. Hanif has also allegedly been involved in other attacks on military vehicles and installations. SSP Abid said that the accused was wanted since 2010 by five Police Stations of Bagh, Poonch and Sudhnoti Districts for masterminding and executing different subversive activities. The SSP said that the accused belonged to the group of Nazirul Islam alias Shamil Khan who was the first head of the so-called 'TTK' after defecting from Asmatullah Muavia.

According to CTD Sheikhupura sources, the CTD Lahore on January 6 arrested two terrorists identified as Saadullah Khan and Jahanzeb Khan - allegedly involved in Gulshan Iqbal Park Lahore suicide blast. Officials of the law enforcement agencies also recovered a huge quantity of illegal weapons, ammunition and bulletproof jackets from their possession. The suspects were allegedly involved in facilitating terrorists. According to a news release, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and CTD jointly carried out operations in tehsils Kharian and Sarai Alamgir of Gujrat District. The agencies searched houses in both tehsils and arrested 20 suspects said to be involved in facilitating terrorists. They also recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and bulletproof jackets. The suspects were later shifted to undisclosed locations for interrogation. The joint operations were part of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, which was launched on February 22 after a string of terrorist attacks across the country.

Security sources said that they belong to banned outfits. A spokesperson of Balochistan Government stated that the women had crossed from the Pak-Afghan border town of Chaman illegally and that they had been arrested by Frontier Corps (FC). The spokesperson did not identify the women but he said that they had been found to belong to banned outfits as revealed by security officials’ investigations. According to initial investigation, the three women reached Chaman on a taxi from Quetta along with their accomplice and were arrested while they were trying to enter Afghanistan’s border town of Spin Boldak via Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate) at the Chaman border crossing. The arrested people were shifted to Quetta for further interrogation.However, the Baloch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) has alleged that the arrested women were the wife and daughters of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) chief Dr Allah Nazar and relatives of another leader of the outfit. The BHRO held a protest outside Quetta Press Club on October 31 and demanded that the women should be released.

Police said five men were handing out pamphlets outside a mosque in Sector G-7/2 meant to incite the public against the government and state institutions. When they saw the Police approaching, they tried to flee. However, Police managed to arrest one of them. According to the ISPR statement, four "wanted terrorists" belonging to the Baloch Republican Army (BRA) and the United Baloch Army (UBA) were killed during the operations, while 24 others were arrested. Among those killed were Thango and Keleri of the BRA, the ISPR said. According to the statement, they were involved in the abduction of civilians and responsible for attacks on law enforcement personnel. The two other militants killed were identified as Muhammad Khan and Jalal Deen - both members of the UBA. According to the ISPR, they were involved in bombing railway lines, the planting of improvised explosive devices and destroying power lines.

"The blast occurred just outside the hospital, injuring many people including one of the owners, Osman Maqsood, who was on his way back after Friday prayers," an official said, adding that according to the bomb disposal squad officials the device used in the attack was probably homemade.
