On July 14, a United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) linkman was arrested from Bengaluru in Karnataka, reports Northeast Now. The arrestee identified as Ranjit Gogoi is believed to be a close aide of ULFA-I militant Gyan Asom alias Santosh Gogoi who was killed in an encounter at Kakopathar on July 8. According to Police sources, Ranjit was allegedly involved in suspicious and illegal cash transactions with another person, Arun Gohain, linked with the ULFA-I. Ranjit had deposited an amount of INR 30,000 in the account of Gohain which was withdrawn and handed to slain militant Gyan Asom’s acquaintances.
