Police arrested two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) couriers from Seethanagaram village of Dummugudem Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Bhadadri Kothagudem District of Telangana on February 20, reports The New Indian Express. One of the two arrested couriers has been identified as Muthu Nagaraju, a resident of Addakula in Mahabubnagar District while the identity of the other courier has not been disclosed.
The New Indian Express reports that on February 4, the CPI-Maoist had issued a letter stating that TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) leaders were encroaching lands. They also specifically asked Mancherial city MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) N. Diwakar Rao to stop the encroachment of lands. Subsequently, on February 21, the Maoists released a second letter and also warned a few trade union leaders of the Singareni coal fields to stop harassing workers.
