At least three people were killed and 22 others sustained injuries in a mortar attack in West of Kabul city in Kabul Province in the afternoon of March 7, reports Khamma Press. According to reports, the incident took place close to a gathering which was organized to mark the 24th death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari. Some high level political leaders, including former President Hamid Karzai, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, presidential candidate Mohammad Haneef Atmar, and Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq were present in the gathering when the incident took place. Nusrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the gathering was targeted with mortar fires and one suspect was arrested in connection to the incident from a residential house.
