The Pakistan army in violation of the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) opened heavy fire and shelled forward posts in two sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on December 18, reports Daily Excelsior. A Defence spokesman said, “At 1740 hours [IST] today [December 18], the Pakistan army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in Mendhar and Balakote sectors in district Poonch”. Indian troops retaliated befittingly; the Defence spokesman added.
