Locals staged demonstrations across Puthukkudiyiruppu town in Mullaitivu District on November 13 against the rising prices of gas, sugar, cement, and fertilizers in the country, reports Tamil Guardian. Following the protest, a letter was handed over to the Chairperson of Pudukudiyiruppu Pradeshiya Sabha. The Sri Lankan Government's essential goods price hike continues to further the burdens on Tamil workers, farmers and the disenfranchised who already face declining living conditions worsened by the pandemic.
