Meanwhile, the JamaatulAhrar (JuA), a splinter group of the TehreekeTaliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of Advocate Kasi and the subsequent
blast. JuA ‘spokesman’ Ehsanullah Ehsan vowed more attacks “until the imposition of an Islamic system in Pakistan”. The Islamic State (IS) group also claimed responsibility for the
suicide attack, Reuters quoted the IS’s Amaq news agency as saying. “A martyr from the Islamic State detonated his explosive belt at a gathering of justice ministry employees and Pakistani policemen in...Quetta,” the Amaq report said released from Cairo, Egypt. Following the
blast, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired a highlevel security meeting and ordered the intelligence agencies to initiate special combing operations to target those involved in terror attacks, said a tweet by InterServices Public Relations (ISPR) spokesperson, reports Daily Times. The Army Chief chaired the meeting, with the Balochistan Chief Minister, Provincial Chief Secretary and Commander Southern Command in attendance. ISPR quoted the Army Chief as saying that after their defeat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terrorists are shifting their focus to Balochistan. The attack is an attempt to undermine the improved security situation of Balochistan, and the effort is specially targeting the ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said. All resources will be employed to control the situation.
