Three Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, identified as Nikolas Mumaru, Taliyan Mumaru and Santosh Hembram, were arrested from Madhurapur forest under Kauakol Police Station area in Nawada District of Bihar, on January 16, reports news.webindia123.com. The District Superintendent of Police (SP), Lalan Mohan Prasad, said that a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local Police conducted raid at a hide-out in Madhurpur forest, leading to the arrest. The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres on April 11 blasted around seven wings of a building of the State Irrigation department in Aurangabad District, reports The Hindu. The incident took place around 2.30 a.m. near Bigha village in Deo block, on the Deo-Abma road. Around 50 to 100 hundred Maoists attacked the building and blasted it, the Police said. “The building has seven structures, which were being repaired by the Irrigation department. Two of them have been severely damaged, while the remaining five have been partially damaged,” Daljeet Singh, Superintendent of Police, Aurangabad, told The Hindu. The Police have also recovered a “live cane bomb, which we have defused. It kept to trap the police and the bomb disposal squad,” Mr. Singh said. He said there was no plan to move teams of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to the building.

Nine hardcore Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres have been arrested at Barhki Pakahi village under Lakhaura Police Station limits in East Champaran District on April 26, reports The Times of India. Five rifles, three pistols and 43 rounds of ammunition, Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a cylinder besides six Police uniforms were recovered from them. East Champaran Superintendent of Police (SP), Vinay Kumar, said a Police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh laid a trap in the area and arrested all nine Maoists, who were planning to unleash violence at the village to avenge the killing of Allah Paswan, who was recently killed by another Maoist faction. Two groups of CPI-Maoist are reported to be at loggerheads over a plot in the area and six persons have been killed from both the sides during the last one year. The arrested Maoists included Harendra Paswan, Hari Paswan, Nanhak Mia, Jagat Paswan, Prem Paswan, Rudal Paswan and Vijendra Paswan.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Harimohan Shukla, said, "Acting on a tip off, a team of Special Armed Police (SAP) raided in Pakhri village last evening (June 8) and arrested Suresh Sahni alias Sujit, Dhanesh Sah and Rajmangal Ram after they tried to escape by firing on the Police." A pistol and two mobile phones were seized from them. The truck, travelling from Jharkhand, had hit 12-year-old Pawan Paswan near Ghormo Ashram in Jamui around 3.30 pm. While Pawan escaped with injuries, the truck’s driver and helper fled after the vehicle rolled down into a ditch. The Police on July 15 unearthed an illegal mini-gun factory in the Bramani forest area, known to be a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) stronghold, in Bihar’s Munger District and recovered magazines, barrels and unassembled pistol kits, reports The Hindu. Acting on a tip-off, a Police team from Bhararar Police Station raided the forest and recovered 80 pistol magazines and 20 barrels among others from the spot. Two persons have been arrested while four others managed to flee, Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjeev Kumar said. The Police also seized drilling machines and other equipment used in making magazine from the spot, the Police said. Later, those arrested told the Police that they were supplying illegal arms to Maoists and criminals.

The Special Task Force (STF) on November 21 seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrested three alleged Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in Gaya District of Bihar, reports The Hindu. The STF recovered a total of 5,055 cartridges. Of them 1,325 cartridges were of SLR (self-loading rifle), 1,800 of 0.315 rifle, 900 of 7.65 pistol, 250 of 0.22 bore firearm, 320 of 7.62 bore pistol, and 460 other cartridges. They also recovered six revolvers, two pistols, one CMP (country-made pistol), two AK-47 magazines, one 0.303 rifle magazine, one primed grenade (where detonator is fixed) and 100 other grenades, Amit Kumar, Inspector General (IG), Operations, said. The alleged Maoists have been identified as Shalingram Yadav, his brother Krishna Yadav and Chander Bhogta. Kumar said they were custodians of the weapons. The operation was conducted near Sondaha and Dumri villages, to the south of Chothi Hills, under the Bankebazar Police Station.

The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Singh in Panchpakri Police outpost area, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinay Kumar said. The arrested Maoists have been identified as Baidyanath Paswan alias Baidjee alias Mukhiyajee, Maheshwar Singh, Vijay Kumar Ram and an underage. The police recovered two country-made pistols, 17 cartridges, 3 motorcycles, 4 mobiles, Maoist literature and a letter pad. Baidyanath Paswan is a top ranking Maoist whose operation area included Sitamarhi, Sheohar and East Champaran Districts.
