UCPN-M dispatched a revised 'commitment letter' to address the demands raised by the Unified Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) and possibly convince them into supporting the party. Reports quoted Maoist vice-chairman Naryan Kazi Shrestha as saying that the letter greatly addresses the Madheshi' demands, chief among which includes 'One Madhesh one autonomous state' and group entry of Madheshi people in the national army. In its previous 'commitment paper' on the Madheshi demands, the Maoists had rejected the 'One Madhesh state' demand of the Madheshi outright, saying that it is against the party's policy.

Quoting the insiders of the Unified Communist party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M), Kantipuronline reports that the two groups led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda and Baburam Bhattarai will spur heated discussions in the upcoming Central Committee of the party. The Central Committee (CC) meeting scheduled for August 10 has been postponed to August 11 on the ground that more time is needed for completing preparations for the event. Both factions of the leaders supporting Chairman Prachanda and Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai are impatient to “vent their ire” against each other. “The meeting is likely witness heated discussions and is also expected to thrash out several crucial issues,” said a Maoist leader. Both Dahal and Bhattarai have serious disagreements over several crucial issues pertaining to internal party politics, Government formation and the peace process.

Minister without Portfolio Laxman Lal Karna, who is also vice-chairman of Sadbhawana Party (SP) revealed on August 12 that the Madhesh-based political parties didn't extend their support to Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) in the election for a Prime Minister because of it being a "totalitarian" party, reports Nepal News. Speaking at a programme organised in Parsa District he accused the Maoists of engaging in all kinds of dirty games to grab power and warned that the former rebel party is trying to impose totalitarianism in the name of democracy in the country. "This is why, the Madhesh-based parties will not support the Maoists in the next round of election for a prime minister," he said, adding that peace and constitution cannot be ensured until the time the Maoists renounce violence and implement past agreements and understanding.
