Six people got injured in an explosion near Cinema Chowk in Turbat town of Kech District in Balochistan on January 10, reports ARY News. Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, adds The Balochistan Post. Jeeyand Baloch, the BLA ‘spokesperson’, in a media statement issued after the attack alleged that Pakistani forces are settling people from outside Balochistan to use them as informants against Baloch national struggle. “The so-called death squads have also been formed to counter the Baloch movement. Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove on January 11 said that a large-scale operation against terrorists has been commenced in Balochistan, reports ARY News. Mir Ziaullah Langove chaired a meeting on law and order situation where the participants reviewed an investigation report regarding the Mach massacre besides discussing the future strategy and recommendations. “A large-scale operation has been commenced against terrorists as the enemies of the country are behind the latest wave of terrorism,” said the Minister. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 11 foiled a terrorism bid in Khuzdar District of Balochistan and seized 10 hand grenades from a passenger van, reports ARY News. Two persons, including a Levies Force officer, were shot dead and another was injured by unidentified assailants in Sui town of Dera Bugti District in Balochistan on January 12, reports Dawn. Officials said that assailants opened fire on the Levies Force official and his nephew in the main bazaar of Sui when they were passing through the area. A fresh military operation has been reportedly launched in Gorkop area of Kech District in Balochistan, The Balochistan Post reported on January 18. There are reports of houses being burnt and detention of people. According to details, the ongoing operation in Gorkop has been extended – houses were set on fire during the operation, while a local shepherd namely Juma son of Ibrahim was arrested from a mountainous area, allegedly by military. Military personnel have installed several check posts at Krochy, Buxar Ziarat and in the mountains from Reso to Gwadar. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) cadres shot dead one alleged ‘State Death Squad’ member, Mirza Walid Bakhtiar, at Cherry Gadgi in Balgutar area of Ketch District in Balochistan on January 28, reports The Balochistan Post. BLF ‘spokesman’ Major Gahram Baloch said in a statement that Mirza Walid Bakhtiar was the leader of a group of death squads. The Levies Force foiled a terrorism plot by recovering a cache of arms and ammunitions from Dasht area of Mastung District in Balochistan on January 30, reports ARY News. A Major general of Army confessed China’s role and support in his deployment in Balochistan, the Sangar reported on January 26. “China has deployed me here to crush the Baloch movement and has given me a six-month task”, said Frontier Corps (FC) Inspector General (IG), South Balochistan, Major General Ayman Bilal at a special (jirga) meeting at FC headquarters in Turbat with few notables including local agents of FC and intelligence agencies. In this special jirga session of FC, Raheema Jalal, sister of Federal Minister for defence Production Zubeida Jalal, Sardar Aziz, head of state formed death squad from Pedarak, Yasir Bahram, head of state death squad Nagor Dasht, Hasil Kolwahi and heads of armed groups who are working on state parole from Tump, Mand, Buleda, Zamuran, Dasht and Hoshap were also present in the meeting. Major General Ayman Bilal said If the threat of FATF is averted, we will go inside Iran and take action. Iran is the biggest enemy of Pakistan which has a direct hand in the instability of Balochistan. He openly admitted China’s role in its deployment and assistance and other important matters. “China has paid me a salary and a large sum of money and officially posted me here for their regional interests and to thwart Iran’s conspiracies against CPEC, as it is a kind of investment in regional interests,” he said.
