Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) leader Koteswar Rao alias Kishan threatened that the Maoist cadres could "blow up Writers' Buildings [Secretariat of West Bengal] any day". "We have the explosives and skill to blow Writers' Buildings and CPM's [Communist Party of India-Marxist’s] Alimuddin Street headquarters to smithereens. If the Centre can deploy forces, we will get our comrades from Chhattisgarh. We are also redeploying our forces (in anticipation of Green Hunt). If police have leads on our strengths and weaknesses, we are also identifying targets where we can hurt them most," the CPI-Maoist leader said. He further added that his offer of talks was still open. When told that writer Arundhati Roy has refused to act as mediator, Kishan said: "We proposed her name because she is aware of tribal problems and the exploitation of tribals by the state. It is her choice. We are ready to sit for talks on our own."
