According to The Hindu, the secretary of the South Bastar Regional Committee of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), Ravula Srinivas alias Ramana on May 28 has taken responsibility for the assassination of Budhra Sodi, former Bhartiy Janata Party (BJP) District president of Dantewada on May 26. “He has been a target of ours for a long time,” said Ramana, “We killed him because of his role in strengthening the BJP and the Salwa Judum (anti Maoist vigilante group) in Dantewada.” Ramana alleged that under Sodi's leadership, the Salwa Judum activists had set ablaze villages and killed innocent tribals.
