On July 28, Assam Police in a joint operation with Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF), intercepted a vehicle in the Manja Tini Ali area of Karbi Anglong District in Assam and arrested two cadres of a newly floated extremist group called the United Peoples Front of Karbi Longri (UPFKL) identified as Rajesh Phangso (33) and Sanjay Engti (32), reports Northeast Now. The detained individuals revealed that Sanjay Engti is the ‘Commander-in-Chief’ (C-N-C) of the UPFKL. 41 letterheads belonging to the UPFKL including with a 9mm pistol with a magazine and four rounds of live 9mm ammunition, a .22 pistol with a magazine and five rounds of live .22mm ammunition, as well as three hand grenades and two detonators were recovered from the vehicle.
