Security Forces (SFs) on January 12 killed two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports The Express Tribune. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists Abdullah Khadri and Khalid aka Janan were killed during the operation conducted on the reported presence of terrorists in the area. The killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area including target killing of innocent civilians.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 12 arrested two Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-KP) suicide bombers, allegedly involved in planning an attack on Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Fazlur Rehman and Awami National Party (ANP)’s Aimal Wali Khan, from Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Dawn. In an official statement, the CTD said Peshawar was “saved from a major catastrophe” with the arrest of the two Afghanistan-trained militants. According to CTD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Operations) Najamul Hasnain Liaquat, the suicide bombers were nabbed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) from Matni area and Achini areas of Peshawar. Two suicide vests, three hand grenades and a pistol were recovered from them, he added.
