On January 12, an exchange of fire took place between government forces and militants at Haotak Tampha Khunou Thoubal Leikai village in the inter-districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur in Manipur, reports Northeast Now. Government forces included two Maha Regiment, 144 Batallion Border Security Forces (BSF), and Bishnupur District Police. Reports stated that the militants in large numbers coming down from the high Dumpi Kuki hill range of Churachandpur district opened fire to which the security forces (SFs) retaliated. However, no casualties were reported.
On January 10, security forces (SFs) recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in Churachandpur District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. The recoveries included one carbine with a magazine, one country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine, five single barrel guns, one tear gas gun, eight Highly Explosive (HE)-36 hand grenades, 26 rubber bullets, 1 self-loading rifle (SLR) magazine, six tear gas shells, four rounds of 5.56 mm bullets, four rounds of 9 mm, twenty .30 mm M1 carbine ammunition and five pumpis.
On January 10, security forces (SFs) recovered one unserviceable AK-56 Rifle, one country made pumpi, five country made shotguns, four number 36 Hand Grenade, fifteen 5.56mm ammunition rounds, 11 AK-56 ammunition rounds, four Bullet Proof (BP) Pouches, one Unserviceable 9mm Pistol, one country made.303 Rifle, one country made Mortar, five Country made bombs, four Impoverished Explosive Devices ( IEDs), 62 Metal pieces likely for bomb-making, two M16 Magazine, one Knife, seven Shotgun rounds, one Motorola set, one Pencil cell charger, one AK-47 magazine, one 9mm magazine and Country made .303 magazine from Tegnoupal District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now.
