Police on September 5 recovered dead bodies of two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militants from the Tulail area in Gurez sector of Banidpora District in Jammu and Kashmir, reports Daily Excelsior. According to reports, the two militants had infiltrated recently and had reached Tulail where they died due to drowning in Kishanganga. Some incriminating material, including four AK Magazine, 116 AK rounds, 16 9mm rounds, one grenade, one wireless set, four wrist watches, driving license and an identity card were recovered from one of the bodies. They militants, identified as Nisar Ahmad Rather and Sameer Ahmad Dar , both from Pulwama, had crossed over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to take the arms training and they were returning during which they drowned in Kishanganga river at Tulail. Nisar Ahmad was missing from his home since February 2018, in the same way Sameer, a driver by profession, was also missing from his home since August 2019.
Separately, a low intensity blast occurred inside the house of two brothers of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sambha, Koushal Sharma, at Maira Chowkian in Rajouri District in Jammu and Kashmir in the morning of September 6, reports Daily Excelsior. Though no casualty was reported, three cars parked there got damaged. SSP Rajouri, Chandan Kohli, said that it wasn’t a grenade attack but low intensity blast and splinters have been recovered from the house.
Separately, an encounter took place between the Security Forces (SFs) and terrorists at Dana Behak, Warnow, in Kupwara District in Jammu and Kashmir on September 5, reports Daily Excelsior. A 5.56 mm M-4 rifle, a Pithu bag, and a Motorola wireless set was recovered from the area during the searches. The encounter took place when joint search operation was launched by the SFs on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Police on September 6 arrested seventh Over Ground Worker (OGW), identified as Mohabbat Hussain, from Bino area of Chiralla in Doda District in Jammu and Kashmir in the terror financing case, which stands registered with Peer Mitha Police Station at Jammu, reports Daily Excelsior. The seventh OGW was arrested. On the disclosure of OGW, a hideout was busted in Suidhar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Doda Police Station. One Pika gun, 54 rounds, one empty box and one empty belt were recovered from the hideout. The Security Forces on August 8, 2020, arrested six OGWs of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in connection with the terror-financing case probe.
Meanwhile, Security Forces on September 5 said that Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) was trying to re-establish its base in North Kashmir, reports Daily Excelsior. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir range, Muhammad Sulaiman Choudhary, said that the three militants who were killed in Pattan Pattan area of Baramulla District in Jammu and Kashmir on September 4 belonged to the HM. The DIG said that it was almost after four years that HM militants were killed in North Kashmir. “It seems that Hizb is trying to re-establish its base in north Kashmir. We are alert and ready to foil all the plans of Hizb that are aimed at its revival in north Kashmir,” he said. Commander 20 Sector RR Brigadier, N K Mishra, said that that local militant recruitment has gone down in North Kashmir. “In 2018, 38 militants joined militancy, in 2018 the number was 19 and this year the number is very less,” he said.
