A person was arrested from Arbi Ki Gafan Chouraha in Barmer District of Rajasthan along with 7kg of heroin worth Rs 11 crore in the international market, reports The Times of India on February 17. According to Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the arrestee Bachaya Khan had brought the contraband from Pakistan on the intervening night of February 15 and February 16 and buried in his house which is located very close to the international border (IB).
On February 17, another person, Mere Khan, co-accomplice of Bachaya Khan was arrested in this connection. Both the accused were in touch with the international drug racketeers in Tarantaran in Punjab. According to ATS Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), OP Ujjwal, Khan’s cousin brother Badal Khan who lives in Amarkot, Pakistan with the help of international Pak smuggler Fotiya Khan, had thrown heroin packets over the fencing from Pakistan side to India’s side. Indian smuggler Meera Khan had taken those packets and given them to Haliya Khan. Haliya Khan had given the packets to Bachaya Khan for making delivery in Tarantaran district, Punjab. Following this incident, local Police and BSF carrying out search operations in several places along the border.
