An encounter took place between the Security Forces (SFs) and the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the forest of Pedia Hitwar in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on February 20, reports jantaserishta.com. Police seized a huge amount of Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] material. Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Rai said that there was an encounter with Maoists of West Bastar Division, and a camp of Maoists has been demolished.
A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Madavi Joga, surrendered before the Police in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on February 19, reports organiser.org. Joga turned himself before the Police and surrendered under the flagship ‘Poona Narkom’ (New Morning) campaign being run by the Police and administration in the district. Joga was active as a ‘militia commander’ of the Sakler Revolutionary Peoples Committee (RPC) of the CPI-Maoist under the Kistaram Police Station limits of Sukma and was carrying a bounty of INR 100,000 on his head, informed the district Police.
A woman Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Ravva Aayate, carrying a reward of INR 100,000, surrendered before the Police in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on February 19, reports organiser.org. Aayate has been active in the Pamed region of the neighbouring Bijapur District. She is also the head of the Kisan Adivasi Mazdoor Sangh (KAMS) under the Erranpalli Revolutionary Peoples Committee (RPC) of the CPI-Maoist, who chose to part ways with the Maoist group after getting impressed by the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government.
