A Policeman was killed in an armed attack on the office of the regional election commissioner in Turbat city of Kech District in Balochistan on January 25, reports Dawn. Kech Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Zia Mandokhel said that unknown assailants attempted to enter the office in the Zaraat area, and an exchange of fire ensued, which resulted in the death of a Policeman, identified as Namrooz. After the exchange of fire, the assailants fled the scene.
Two persons, identified as Akbar, son of Nawab Khan, and Jamil Ahmed, son of Imam Bakhsh, have been detained allegedly by the Pakistani forces from the Jhal Magsi area of Balochistan and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location, reports The Balochistan Post on January 25. According to reports, Akbar was earlier detained by Pakistani forces along with his brother Yusuf. Meanwhile, his brother Yusuf was killed by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in an alleged encounter in Dera Murad Jamali, while Akbar himself was released but has once again been forcibly disappeared.
