Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) have called for a bandh (general shutdown strike) in Bihar and Jharkhand on January 27, issuing a release asking for political prisoner status and unconditional release of ‘politburo member’ cum Eastern Regional Bureau ‘secretary’ Prashant Bose alias Kishan Da (77) and his wife Sheela Marandi alias Sheela Di, who were arrested on November 12, 2021, reports prabhatkhabar.com. At the same time, from January 21 to 26, the Maoists have also announced of celebrating resistance week in both the States. The CPI-Maoist have demanded that better health care should be provided to ‘politburo member’ cum ‘secretary’ of Eastern Regional Bureau Kishan Da and his wife Sheela, along with their unconditional release. Reportedly, Jharkhand Police had arrested Kishan Da and his wife Sheela, Birendra Hansda alias Jeetendra, Raju Tudu alias Nikhil alias Baju, Krishna Bahda alias Heaven and Gurcharan Bodra at Giddibeda toll plaza under Kandra Police Station limits in Seraikela Kharsawan District of Jharkhand on November 12, 2021.
