Secretary of the JMWP (Jayashankar, Mulugu, Warangal and Peddapally) Division Committee of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), Venkatesh, has alleged that the Police of Telangana and Chhattisgarh had fired on Maoist cadres after they gathered information about the movement of Maoists and killed three Maoists in a fake encounter in the Karriguttalu forest area on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh State border on January 18, reports Telangana Today. Condemning this ‘fake encounter,’ Venkatesh, in a media release, called for a bandh of Mulugu District on January 22. The attack on Maoists took place while they were on their way to meet the people of Wajedu-Venkatapuram area of Mulugu District in Telangana State, he said, adding that the party had lost three members who were identified as Madakam Singe alias Shanta, Venkatapuram area committee ‘secretary’, who hails from Chhattisgarh State, Kommula Naresh, Yellandu-Narsampet ‘squad commander’, from Jaggaihapet village of Regonda Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Jayashankar Bhupalpally District, and Kovasi Mooyal alias Kailas of Cheekupal village of Dantewada District in Chhattisgarh State. However, The New Indian Express reports that ‘secretary’ of the Division Committee, Venkatesh, gave a call for a Statewide bandh on January 22. He also alleged that the Police have not allowed media persons at the encounter spot.
