A customer was killed and a mechanic sustained injury after two suspected militants opened fire at a motorcycle workshop in Moreh town in Tengnoupal District of Manipur on January 23, reports Nagaland Post. The slain customer was identified as Thangminlen Guite (45) of TL Haijang village of Moreh town while the injured mechanic was identified as Gulbaz (19) of Kwakta village in Bishnupur District presently staying in the border town.The attack took place at Mujibur Workshop, Moreh Ward when two suspected militants who came in a while colour Maruti Gypsy opened fire indiscriminately towards the workshop without any provocation. In the firing, Guite who came to repair his motorcycle sustained multiple bullet injuries, while the mechanic was hit by a bullet on his left thigh. Later, Guite succumbed to his injuries. Police suspect the two miscreants to be cadres of a militant group actively operating in the border town and an investigation has been initiated to find out the perpetrators of the crime.
