Armoured tanks deployed in and around Ariyalai point in Jaffna after observing the presence of about seven Sea Tiger boats directed 100-mm fire rounds on April 9-morning between 10:20-10:30am, causing one of the boats to explode. The boats were reportedly on a reconnaissance mission with loaded explosives. Less than an hour later, the troops detecting one more LTTE boat in the Jaffna lagoon area opened heavy fire on it. However, troops restrained from further firing since the LTTE boat managed to creep into fishing boats in the seas. Later, the dead body of a suspected LTTE militant was found washed ashore, Colombo Page reported.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) using a small aircraft dropped two improvised bombs on Trincomalee naval base on August 26-night, reported Colombo Page quoting defence sources. The Defence Ministry said the LTTE launched the air raid on the naval camp at about 9:15 pm (SLST). The Ministry citing naval sources said the Sri Lankan Air Force detected the approaching LTTE aircraft around 9 pm and alarmed the Navy base. Naval troops then fired at the aircraft which forced the aircraft to flee without being able to enter into the naval dockyard. Naval sources confirming the attack on the Trincomalee Navy base said the raid caused minor damages and added that one bomb out of the two dropped failed to explode. Four sailors were injured in the attack. Meanwhile, the pro-LTTE website Tamil Net claimed that 11 sailors were injured in the incident.
