According to media reports, at least two terrorists were killed in an internecine clash between the rival factions of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) at Longtsunger village in Kisum (Kiphire sub-division) in Tuensang district, Nagaland on February 10. Quoting police sources, reports further said that a terrorist each of the NSCN-Khaplang (NSCN-K) and NSCN-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) were killed when members of both the factions came face to face accidentally. Quoting Inspector-General of Police (intelligence), C. Kikon, the reports indicated that the factions clash to control the Kisum area that has remained a stronghold of the NSCN-K and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), thus far. The reports added that Intelligence agencies had earlier warned of renewed factional clashes in the Tuensang.

According to a media report, police in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) claimed on April 2 that they had arrested 14 Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terrorists. The arrests were made on April 1 in Muzaffarabad, a week after some cadres of the HM blamed their chief Syed Salahuddin for the death of former ‘chief commander of operations’ Abdul Majeed Dar, splitting the group into two rival factions. Dar was killed on March 23, in Sopore, 55km north of Srinagar, the capital of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. Supporters of Majeed Dar accused Salahuddin of ordering Dar’s assassination because Salahuddin feared an attempt to oust him. The report said police arrested seven cadres from each Hizb faction under preventive detention to forestall a clash.
