On February 14, Punjab Police conducted raids at 2,371 suspected hideouts of anti-social elements linked with gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria across the state, reports Tribune India. Police claim that Bhagwanpuria and his associates are in communication with their accomplices having links with banned Pro-Khalistan groups, namely, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). On October 11, the Police, arrested three operatives identified as Jaswinder Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Gurpartap Singh from Ajnala Town in the Amritsar District of Punjab, for planning target killings in in the state, reports The Tribune. The accused had connections with a designated terrorist and member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) Harvinder Singh alias Rinda, in Pakistan. They seized two pistols, three magazines, and 11 bullets. The group had received a weapons consignment from across the Indo-Pak border and aimed to target political and socio-religious leaders, said the report.

On November 22, the Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police arrested three persons (names unspecified) linked to an Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) controlled Pakistan-based terror module in Bathinda District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. Investigation revealed that the accused were in contact with some persons currently lodged in Sangrur jail in the Sangrur District of Punjab. Furthermore, eight weapons, nine magazines, and 30 live cartridges were recovered and a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged, the report added.

The Police teams recovered three cans of black spray, a flag of Khalistan, and one motorcycle from the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested persons had received Rs 1,25,000 and were in touch with an associate of Jagjit Singh who used to send money to the SFJ activists in India on behalf of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the report added.
