Giving details of the raids, sources said that the Chairman of another terrorist outfit, the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Mayang was also arrested in the raids at Tamu, Namphalong and Khunjao areas in Myanmar bordering Manipur’s Chandel district between November 2 to 8. The raids are reported to be a sequel to counter insurgency operations initiated by the Border Security Force (BSF) on the Indian side of the border. Most of those arrested had fled Manipur after the BSF raids. Other terrorist leaders arrested were UNLF General Secretary Hameboa, UNLF Women’s wing ‘commandant’ Nganbi Devi, UNLF Women’s wing ‘second commandant’ Banti Devi and UNLF ‘General Section Officer’ Yanachou. Reports added that approximately 1,400 sophisticated weapons were seized. Of these, about 600 belonged to the UNLF and the People’s Liberation Army and the remaining to arms dealers. Over rupees one crore in cash, a huge quantity of gold and 20 rocket launchers were also seized. The Myanmar Army reportedly also recovered equipment used in printing counterfeit currency.
